Winter Aperitif

Delicious syrup for a winter aperitif. A recipe from the Romantik Hotel Bären in Dürrenroth, fresh from our own kitchen. Enjoy the syrup with Prosecco or in the non-alcoholic version with water and apple cider. Have fun toasting!

This syrup is an absolute dream for all lovers of Christmas spices. Perfect for the Advent season or Christmas dinner. The Romantik Hotel Bären wishes you cheers and a wonderful Christmas season.

Ingredients

Winter Sirup

  • 2 l water
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 8 cardamom pods
  • 4 star anis
  • 10 cloves
  • 15 g dried citrus peel
  • 2 kg sugar
  • 2 EL citrus acid powder

Instructions

    Sirup

    1. bring water to the boil
    2. add spices and leave to infuse for 15 minutes
    3. bring to the boil and add cinnamon, sugar and citric acid
    4. strain through a sieve and leave to cool

    Our tip for preparing as a non-alcoholic aperitif: dilute the syrup with 3/4 water and 1/4 apple cider.
