The 8.3-kilometer road crosses several islands, bridges and skerries and leads directly across the Atlantic. The road is known for its unique landscape and exciting driving experience, especially in stormy weather. After the Atlantic Road, you cross Averøy and arrive in Kristiansund, a cozy small town with many great places to visit. A visit to Garshol on Rådhusplassen for the cliff fish trade is a must.

Nordlichter

Fascination Northern Lights

They hover in mystical colors on the horizon and seem to come from a fantasy world: the mysterious northern lights, also known as aurora borealis, are only found in a few countries around the world. Norway is one of them. The best time to see them is between October and March in places with little light, especially when the sky is dark and clear. If you are lucky, you can also see them outside the winter months in April and September. A natural beauty you will never forget!

Molde

Molde - culture, jazz & sight

Molde, the city of roses, is located directly on the Norwegian coast and offers wonderful views of the surrounding fjords and mountains. The city is known for its annual jazz festival in July, which has been attracting music lovers from all over the world since 1961. During this time, Molde transforms into a cultural center where international jazz greats and up-and-coming artists come together and fill the streets with music and life. Those interested in culture should also visit the Romsdalsmuseet, an open-air museum that offers insights into regional history and traditions.

Unadulterated beauty: hiking

The fascinating landscape in the adventurous Romsdalen Valley is perfect for unforgettable hikes with incredible views and impressions. On your way by car via Bjorli, you pass the majestic Trollveggen and a short detour takes you to the spectacular Trollstigen winding road. When you reach Åndalsnes, a landscape full of sights and viewpoints unfolds before you. Here you can enjoy a sweeping view of the surrounding area on Rampestreken or climb the steps of the Romsdalstrappa. The Romsdal gondola offers a leisurely ride with panoramic views, and there are numerous hiking trails for different levels of difficulty. For the more adventurous, the Via Ferrata/Romsdalsstigen offers an exciting challenge. If your journey takes you across Dovrefjell National Park, you may be lucky enough to see musk oxen in the wild

Ekkertinden, Sunndal's very own rock pulpit, and the enchanting villages of Elverhøi and Alfheim - the realm of Mrs. Arbutbott - are also natural treasures of this region. From Sunndalsøra it is only a 35-minute drive to the historic Romantik Hotel Angvik Gamle Handelssted.

Käse

Norwegian cheese tradition

Derinngården near Eide is known for its local cheese specialties. During a visit here, you can explore the craftsmanship and unmistakable taste of the regional cheese tradition. For your culinary journey of discovery, we also recommend a detour to Brubekken Gårdsmeieri, where you can also enjoy first-class dairy products. You should definitely try the world champion cheese from Tingvoll, which is internationally recognized for its outstanding quality and taste.

Reina Gård on Hjelset and Tingvoll Sider are other culinary destinations in Fjord Norway.
