The Rhine-Main and Rhine-Lahn regions are as diverse as they are steeped in history. While Frankfurt am Main impresses with its urban city flair and its quaint Ebbelwoi & Handkäs pubs, the Rhine region is best known for its vineyards and wineries. In the cozy little town of Braubach on the Rhine, visit the fascinating Marksburg Castle, which has been enthroned like a fairy tale on one of the mountains in the woods since the 12th century. Also located near Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, the German Allenstrasse leads you through the tranquil Limburg an der Lahn with its beautiful half-timbered buildings, charming old town alleys and Limburg Cathedral.

The Black Forest with its hiking and winter sports opportunities is certainly one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany and also a popular destination for wellness vacationers and gourmets. Known as the source of inspiration for the Brothers Grimm, its Black Forest chic and its cuckoo clocks, the region still exerts an almost mystical fascination. View the trees along the way of the German Avenue Road from a car or motorcycle, or explore the mountains and small towns in Baden Würrtemberg like Bad Herrenalb on foot.

With a wonderful view of Germany's largest and most famous lake, the German Alley Road finally ends on the island of Reichenau. On Lake Constance, numerous small towns and bays are waiting to be discovered. While you can use the lake for various swimming opportunities in the summer, a little city trip to pretty towns like Überlingen is also worthwhile.
