The classic city of Weimar, the city of poets and thinkers, is only a 45-minute drive from the Schlossgut and is definitely worth a visit due to its rich cultural history and sights. Visit the Goethe National Museum and the Schiller House to immerse yourself in the world of the famous German writers. Experience the history of modern architecture and art at the Bauhaus Museum. Or take a stroll through the park on the Ilm, where Goethe once walked, and visit Belvedere Palace with its beautiful gardens. Discover the City Palace and the Herder Church, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Tip: Enjoy the classic city and its beautiful architecture during a city tour in a horse-drawn carriage.

The historic state capital of Thuringia is known for its well-preserved old town and sights such as Erfurt Cathedral and the summer Cathedral Steps Festival, the Petersberg Citadel and the Severi Church. The Krämerbrücke, a medieval bridge with a continuous row of houses, is one of the city's architectural highlights. In the 36-hectare egapark, you can enjoy green spaces, seas of flowers and buildings such as the Danakil desert and jungle house with around 890 plant and 90 animal species - a world of adventure for young and old. You can also visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Erfurt: The medieval mikvah and the old synagogue.

The Thuringian university town of Jena, also known as the city of light and just under three quarters of an hour away by car, combines science, history and nature as well as innovation and tradition. The historic ensemble of Dornburg castles is idyllically situated on a shell limestone cliff above the Saale valley and is a wonderful destination for an excursion. Visit the Zeiss Planetarium, the oldest planetarium in the world, and experience fascinating celestial shows. The Optical Museum shows the history of optics and photography. If you take a stroll through the university's botanical garden, you will be walking through one of the oldest gardens in Germany. Enjoy the wonderful view from the JenTower, the tallest building in the city, and experience the ambience of the historic old town. You will find numerous bars and pubs in Wagnerstrasse. And if you love music, film and theater, you should visit the Kulturarena in summer.

The small town of Naumburg is just half an hour's drive from the hotel. Naumburg Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of late Romanesque and Gothic architecture, is famous for its unique donor figures. Explore the historic old town with its well-preserved half-timbered houses and charming alleyways. Stroll along the old town wall or through the vineyards of the Saale-Unstrut region and enjoy regional wines. The local Naumburg Wine and Sparkling Wine Manufactory, for example, is renowned for its high-quality wines.

Wine enjoyment meets culture: experience Freyburg, a charming little spot in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region. Visit Neuenburg Castle, a medieval fortress with exciting exhibitions and great views. Fancy a sparkling moment? The Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellar offers exciting tours and tastings in its vaulted cellars. Stroll through the historic old town or the green vineyards and immerse yourself in the world of regional viticulture.

An excursion into the past: the Auerstedt Museum World at Schlossgut Auerstedt comprises the Carriage Museum and the Museum of Rarities and Local History and displays a collection of historical artifacts that provide a lively insight into past centuries. Noble coaches, elegant Landauers and rustic stagecoaches are accompanied by informative panels on the history and significance of the exhibits, which you can study at your leisure. Learn about blacksmithing and carpentry, traditional crafts and the history of the region at the Auerstedt Museum of Rarities and Local History. Through numerous exhibits, you can discover the history of rural life and work, including the great importance of craftsmanship.

Are you a leisure cyclist, a sporty biker or do you enjoy family excursions by bike? The Tuscany of the East is perfect for short or long bike tours for all levels of difficulty. The Ilm Valley Cycle Path, which also runs through Bad Sulza, meanders along the River Ilm and offers cyclists a variety of routes through charming villages and historical sites. In addition to the beautiful natural surroundings, you can also enjoy the lightness of being here. You can sample regional specialties and wines at the numerous refreshment stops along the way. Also interesting: the 80 km long Napoleon Cycle Path. This leads from Jena to Auerstedt and follows in the footsteps of Napoleon and his battles. If you don't want to pedal but still want to get out and about in nature, the Segway tour with Sylvia Laube is the perfect choice.

The Saale-Unstrut wine region, located in the heart of Germany along the Saale and Unstrut rivers, is the northernmost quality wine-growing region in the country. With around 800 hectares of vineyards, it is known for its white wines such as Müller-Thurgau and Silvaner as well as red wines such as Dornfelder and Pinot Noir. The region includes historic wineries and cultural sights such as the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellars in Freyburg and the Schulpforta monastery. Hiking and cycling tours through the vineyards and regular wine festivals offer ideal opportunities to enjoy the variety and quality of Saale-Unstrut wines.

The Thuringian vineyard Bad Sulza is part of the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region, one of the northernmost wine-growing regions in Germany. The mild climate and special soil conditions create ideal conditions for viticulture. The winery has a long tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. It produces a wide range of wines, with a focus on white varieties such as Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner and Riesling as well as some red varieties such as Pinot Noir. The special character of the wines is shaped by the terroir of the region. The Thuringian winery in Bad Sulza is a popular destination for wine lovers and tourists. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings, guided tours of the winery and various events. The estate's wines are renowned for their quality and have received numerous awards. Sustainable practices and traditional winemaking methods are at the heart of production.

Canoeing on the Saale and Unstrut rivers offers an idyllic nature experience through vineyards, historic towns and green landscapes in Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The Saale, with its gentle currents and small rapids, is suitable for all levels of experience and leads past sights such as the Dornburg Castles and Rudelsburg Castle. The calmer Unstrut meanders through the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region, past Freyburg and Nebra. Both rivers have well-developed infrastructure and numerous rest stops - ideal for relaxed paddling tours.

Nebra Ark is an archaeologically significant visitor center near the site where the Nebra Sky Disk, a 3,600-year-old bronze disk with astronomical representations, was found. The center offers exhibitions and multimedia presentations that explain the history and significance of the famous disk.

The Romanesque Road is a vacation route in Saxony-Anhalt that runs for around 1,000 kilometers through the fascinating world of Romanesque architecture. There are over 80 important buildings from the Middle Ages along the route, including impressive churches, monasteries and castles. Important stops include Magdeburg Cathedral and Halberstadt Cathedral, while in the Saale-Unstrut region there is Naumburg Cathedral and Burgscheidungen Manor and Castle. The route combines historical and cultural sights with the picturesque landscape of the region and offers a great journey through the history of the 10th to 13th centuries.

Astronomy experience: The Goseck Solar Observatory is one of the oldest known solar observatories in the world, around 7,000 years old. It consists of concentric palisade rings and gates that are aligned with the sunrises and sunsets at the winter solstice. The reconstructed site offers insights into early astronomy and the ritual practices of prehistoric cultures.
