The Romantik Hotel Zehntkeller, a prestigious, prince-bishop's official residence in Iphofen in the Franconian wine country, can look back on many years of hospitality experience. The gastronomically experienced Seufert family, owners of the well-known hotel, had already run several businesses and wineries before coming into possession of the Zehntkeller in 1917. To this day, the hotel benefits from the warm atmosphere and competent service that Heinrich Seufert, his wife and Gabriele have created here for their guests. Gabriele Seufert runs the hotel, which consists of a hotel, restaurant, event location and winery, together with her niece Klara Zehnder, hotel manager Ilona Ott-Hsia and winery manager Johannes Weickert.

Double room

Our rooms and suites are divided into five different buildings. You will find our standard double rooms in the historic, listed main building and in the newer, elevator-equipped courtyard house. Each room has been individually furnished in French style by our senior manager Heinrich Seufert and his wife Gabriele. They often traveled directly to France to select the furniture and antiques. Rooms with separate beds are also available. All rooms are non-smoking.

In the Franconian town of Iphofen, at the foot of the picturesque Schwanberg, our winery cultivates 27 hectares of vineyards. The top vineyards Julius-Echter-Berg, Küchenmeister and Kronsberg, paired with the powerful terroir of the Keuper, form a unique combination.
For us, wine is more than just a product. With wine, we experience the most beautiful evenings, the most convivial gatherings and the perfect accompaniment to a meal. We want to embellish special moments with our wines, whether in our restaurant Zehntkeller or in your home.

A heart for nature

Winery

We converted our winery to organic viniculture back in 2009 and have been a certified Bioland member since 2012. The fruit for our distillates comes from our own fruit trees, which grow right next to the winery. Since 2023, the winery has been a member of Zukunftsweine: an organization of German wineries that make viticulture more sustainable thanks to fungus-resistant grape varieties. We use a small electric car to transport our wines between the hotel and the winery to minimize emissions. And if you don't want wine, our guests can enjoy water from Frankenbrunnen in Neustadt/Aisch (33 km away) or juices from the Georg Heim juice cellar in Scheinfeld (22 km away).

In the restaurant, we mainly use products from regional cooperation partners. We have been working with many of them for decades. These include

We use herbs from the Zehntkeller herb garden to refine our dishes and mix refreshing cocktails. You are cordially invited to relax on the comfortable loungers in our herb garden in fine weather and enjoy the tranquillity of Iphöf.

Holistic approach

We live our passion for regional products not only in our food, but also in many other aspects of our business. This includes our own in-house laundry. Whether bed linen, towels or tablecloths: all textiles are washed directly in the Zehntkeller in our own laundry by our own housekeeping team. This saves us long journeys to distant laundries. Ecological cleaning agents from Werner & Mertz are used to clean the rooms. Incidentally, you can voluntarily choose not to have your room cleaned by us and even receive a small gift from our organic vineyard in return.

Our own combined heat and power plant has been supplying the hotel with heat and electricity for years. We also support regional tradespeople: painters, carpenters, locksmiths, plumbers and interior decorators, who decorate the Zehntkeller so beautifully, all come from the Kitzingen region. Our floral decorations are also regularly refreshed by the Iphofen-based team from Blumencafé Holzheimer.
