De Haan invites you to take long walks along the coast. But you can also opt for the Heritage walking route or explore the dunes on the Duinbossen walking route. Thanks to the walking networks, you can connect the hubs and create your own route. Cyclists can do the same with the De Kust cycling network map or venture out on the Oude Dijkenfietsroute, exploring De Haan as well as Vlissegem and Klemskerke.

In only 15 km you will find the medieval city of Bruges, called the "Venice of the North" because of its canals. We recommend a canal trip or carriage ride in the romantic old town.

Special sights to see:

• Church of Our Lady (Katelijnestraat), where the only Weiss Marmeren painting by Michelangelo outside Italy hangs (Madonna and Child).
• Groeninge Museum: has a beautiful and large collection of Flemish Primitives (important group of painters of the 15th century).
• Holy Blood Chapel: there is a relic from Jerusalem containing Jesus' blood
• the town hall and its Gothic room
• the Belfry with its 366 steps - once at the top, you can see the coast on a fine day
• For shopping we can recommend Knokke (30km), Bruges (15km), Oostende (10km) and Nieuwpoort (30km).

The Royal Ostend Golf Club, located on the coast in De Haan, is the only true links course in Belgium with its 18 holes. The course is located directly on the coast and, in addition to a very demanding and technical golf course, promises above all a magnificent view of the sea and the dunes. Especially when the wind blows over the narrow fairways, all your golfing skills will be put to the test!
