Welcome to the Romantik Hotel L'Etoile in the heart of the Greyezer Pre-Alps. Here, in the south of the canton of Fribourg, the famous cheese that bears the name of this green region has been produced since the 17th century. By the way, one of the most important places of its production is the Val-de-Charmey, whose untouched nature you can enjoy in our hotel at the foot of the Pre-Alps.

Our hotel has been in existence since 1695. Directly opposite the village well, the church and the post office, the coachmen and the first travellers who came to the green heart of Gruyère for its cheese stayed at the Hotel Etoile. Tradition is very important here. The dialect (patoir) is still spoken, the Almabtrieb, Bénichon (harvest festival or Kilbli) is still lived. The intact village with its many associations still has its soul in our house. It is a matter close to our hearts to preserve the tradition of our village and the region while we lead the Romantik Hotel l'Etoile sustainably into the future. Our hotel is heated with geothermal energy. Our cuisine is 80% regional. For example, instead of orange juice at breakfast, we serve apple juice from the region, butter, milk, cheese, ham and homemade jam, as well as bread with cereals from Fribourg. We are lucky in Charmey to use mountain spring water from a spring only 10 km away in our mountains.
