A tribute to the sophistication of simplicity
What is a ship doing in the Bregenzerwald? Deeply anchored in the region, it has been a safe haven since 1840 for all those in search: of culinary surprises and regional treasures in Hittisau. After a second home with lots of atmosphere and lived hospitality. In this "house with character", quality is offered at the highest level on all levels.
Our hosts
The host family Metzler has been running the traditional house for over 180 years and stands for authentic, hearty hospitality with far more than stars, toques and forks. In a prime location with a far-reaching view of the Bregenzerwald mountains, the small but fine house welcomes guests from near and far and tells stories and history. The extraordinary craftsmanship of the centuries, the sensitive innovations and additions give the SCHIFF its incomparable character and charm. The cuisine in particular - highly praised as "one of the best kitchens in the country" - was shaped by Erna Metzler: as a self-taught chef, she was the first woman in Vorarlberg to be ennobled with a Gault Millau toque in 1993.
Auch heute noch ist Frauenpower im Schiff angesagt. Mehr darüber erfahren Sie im Podcast Romantik Travel in der Folge „Frauenpower im Bregenzer Wald“ mit Gastgeberin Antonie Metzler“:
