Go on an exciting journey through 4 million years of human history: In the Neanderthal Museum you go in search of traces of mankind. The exhibition focuses on the Neanderthals. In the museum and at the famous discovery site you can learn more about the beginnings of mankind Life-size figures, reconstructed on the basis of human fossils, provide fascinating insights into history.

Lohmann's Romantik Hotel Gravenberg is located directly at the foot of the Bergisches Land and thus the diversity of the region opens up right on our doorstep. The varied Neanderland Steig leads hikers directly from the hotel into the idyllic mountain landscape past bathing lakes, moors, heaths, hills and forests. The Bergisches Land can be cycled in a relaxed way thanks to e-bikes or on low-slope, historic railway tracks. The more than 200 km long network of panorama cycle paths impresses with breathtaking views of the hilly landscape, with numerous bridges and railway history.

Culture lovers explore the numerous highlights of the region, such as Schloss Burg, Germany's highest railway bridge (Müngsten Bridge) or Altenberg Cathedral. A ride on the suspension railway, Wuppertal's landmark, is an impressive experience. Cologne and Düsseldorf are less than 30 minutes away by car or easily reached by public transport for shopping or a lavish cultural programme.

The Bergisches Land is great to experience from the water by canoe or kayak. Paddle through the valley of the Wupper and experience the exciting flora and fauna.

Adventure seekers will get their money's worth at the lake in Langenfeld. Try or practice water skiing and wakeboarding on a total of 4 lanes or surf on a world's first standing wave on a lake.
